Dalia Peretz, Co-Principal, Jerusalem School
Dalia Perez has served as co-principal of the Max Rayne "Hand in Hand' Bilingual School in Jerusalem since 2001. With a strong professional background in education and cross-cultural mediation, Dalia spearheads a multiethnic faculty, student body and community of parents.
Dalia graduated from high school in Sderot and following her army service attended Tel Aviv University, where she received BA and MA degrees in Sociology and Anthropology. She was instrumental in promoting various projects for children from disadvantaged backgrounds, providing them with tools for future scholastic achievements. She was also a member of the team that founded "Kedma" in Tel Aviv, a unique educational institution for Jewish elementary school pupils of North African origin which encouraged new modes of multicultural expression. Dalia was later chosen to participate in the highly respected program run by the Mandel School for Leadership in Education where she developed a multicultural curriculum for both Jewish and Arab students.
More recently, Dalia spent a year in Boston at the Harvard Kennedy School earning a second Masters, this time in Public Administration. She is the most veteran of all principals.
Ala Khatib, Co-Principal, Jerusalem School Ala Khatib joined Hand in Hand as Co-Principal of the Jerusalem School in 2002. Since then, he has helped oversee the expansion of the school to the middle school level (ages 12-15) and looks forward to the school's coming expansion to high school (ages 15-18). Prior to joining the Hand in Hand Max Rayne Jerusalem School, Ala worked as chief of staff to Member of Knesset Ahmad Tibi, served as Director of a hospital, and as Co-Director of the Israeli human rights organization HaMoked. Ala holds a B.Sc. and an M.Sc. in biology and genetics from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He lives in Beit Safafa with his wife and two children. Lior Aviman,Co-Principal, Jerusalem School
Lior Aviman was born and raised in Beer Sheva and since his mandatory army service has been active in a number of non-profit and educational projects in the public sector. Some of these projects include running educational training courses, fundraising for an educational radio program broadcast by children, acting as coordinator of a school in Jerusalem and having a leading role at an institution for youth at risk. Orna Eylat, Co-Principal, Galilee School Orna was born and raised in Israel, save for a four-year stint in the Washington, D.C. area during her high school years. Following her military service training paratroopers (including a number of jumps), she studied at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, from which she received a B.A. in English Literature and a teaching certificate. Prior to joining Hand in Hand in the fall of 2007, Orna worked as a supervisory teacher in the Misgav High School. She also worked briefly as a broadcast coordinator for Israeli television. Husam Abu Bachar, Co-principal, Wadi Ara School
Husam Abu Bachar joined the Wadi Ara school in August 2008. Husam Abu Bachar has spent many years as the director of programs and initiatives and the director of strategy and organizational development for the Abraham Fund. Tal Kaufman, Co-principal, Wadi Ara School
Tal Kaufman began her new job as the co-principal of the school in August 2008. For many years, she served as the program coordinator for the National Humanistic Education agency as well as leading courses and workshops for principals and teachers under the auspices of Achva College, the Ministry of Education, and others. Suha Ibrahim, Principal, Beer Sheva School Suha Ibrahim was born in raised in the village of Diburiyya in Israel's northern region. She serves as Principal of Hand in Hand's new Beer Sheva school, which serves over 40 students. Following her primary and secondary education in Diburiyya's local school system, Suha studied at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She holds a B.A. in Arabic language education and an M.A. in education policy and management. Prior to joining Hand in Hand, she served as an educational project manager at a museum.
